In October 2013, AGU appointed a task force to review the Union Fellows Program selection process and make recommendations to the Honors and Recognition committee regarding any changes that might improve perceived gaps in the selection of interdisciplinary science candidates, female candidates, or candidates from other underrepresented groups, while maintaining the program’s prestige.
In February 2015, the task force issued a report detailing its findings and recommendations.
