For outstanding achievements in research on the constitution and evolution of the Earth and other planets.

International Award

For making an outstanding contribution to furthering the Earth and space sciences and using science for the benefit of society in developing nations.


James B. Macelwane Medal

For significant contributions to the geophysical sciences by an outstanding early career scientist.


Joanne Simpson Medal for Mid-Career Scientists

John Adam Fleming Medal

Spilhaus Ambassador Award Grant

The Spilhaus Ambassador Award Grant was established in memory of AGU’s former longtime CEO, Fred Spilhaus Jr. This grant looks to extend the work of AGU Ambassador Award recipients by providing $2,500 grants to up to two recipients annually.


The Asahiko Taira International Scientific Ocean Drilling Research Prize
