Union Fellows Nomination Timeline

15 January 2017 Nominations submission site opens.
15 March 2017 Nominations submission site closes.
6 April 2017 AGU and Union Fellows Committee Chair host a webinar with Section and Focus Group Committee Chairs to discuss deliberation process.
16 March – 14 April 2017 AGU staff reviews nomination packages for eligibility and completeness and prepares nomination materials for Section and Focus Group Fellows committee review.
17 April 2017 Nomination materials are directed to Section and Focus Group Fellows committee based on 1) the nominee’s primary affiliation and 2) up to three additional section and focus group affiliation may be reviewed as well if the initial pool of nominees does not meet primary evaluation criteria or if a low number of nominees were submitted for review.
17 April – 15 May 2017 Section and Focus Group Fellows committee review and consider the nominees. Each Section and Focus Group Fellows Committee is allocated a number of nominees that can move forward to the Union Fellows Selection Committee. The number of candidates allocated to each section and focus group is based on the percentage of AGU members with primary and secondary affiliations to their group. Section and Focus Group Fellows committee submit their recommendation reports for consideration by the Union Fellows Selection Committee.
22 May 2017 Union Fellows Committee reviews and considers the nominees through a series of evaluations
6-7 July 2017 Union Fellows Committee meets for two days to elect the 2017 Class of AGU Fellows.
28 July 2017 AGU officially announces the 2017 Class of AGU Fellows
December 2017 AGU formally recognizes the 2017 Union Medalists, Awardees, Prizes recipients during the Honors Tribute, held at the Fall Meeting.
