The Spilhaus Ambassador Award Grant was established in memory of AGU’s former longtime CEO, Fred Spilhaus Jr. This grant looks to extend the work of AGU Ambassador Award recipients by providing $2,500 grants to up to two recipients annually.

For journalistic excellence in feature stories on the Earth and space sciences that make information about those sciences accessible and interesting to the general public
Athelstan Spilhaus Award
For enhancement of the public engagement with Earth and space sciences, through devoting portions of their career conveying to the general public the excitement, significance, and beauty of the Earth and space sciences.
