Andrew Schaeffer received the 2014 Study of the Earth’s Deep Interior Focus Group Graduate Research Award at the 2014 American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting, held 15–19 December in San Francisco, Calif.
Andrew Schaeffer received his B.Sc. in geophysics from the University of British Columbia in 2006 and a M.Sc. in seismology from the University of British Columbia in 2009. He recently completely his Ph.D. in global surface wave tomography under the supervision of Sergei Lebedev and Chris Bean jointly at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. His research focuses on the structure and dynamics of the Earth’s upper mantle and transition zone, imaged using surface wave tomography, receiver functions, and geodynamic modeling.
